Terms of Service

Last updated · 2026-05-08

The short version

Locus is a personal-productivity app. By using it, you agree to the terms below. We agree to provide the service in good faith, treat your data the way the privacy policy describes, and not do anything weird with it. If we ever need to change these terms in a way that affects you, we'll tell you first.

1. Your account

  • You need an account to use Locus. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe — don't share your password, and use biometric / 2FA where available.
  • Anything you do under your account is your responsibility. If your account is compromised, tell us as soon as possible so we can help.
  • One account per person, please. Don't pretend to be someone else.

2. What you can use Locus for

Anything reasonable. Examples of what you cannot do:

  • Use Locus to store or distribute illegal content, malware, or content you don't have the right to.
  • Try to access other accounts, exploit security vulnerabilities, or scrape the service in a way that puts load on it. (If you find a vulnerability, please report it to developer.shahadat@gmail.com — we appreciate it.)
  • Resell access to Locus or repackage it as a different product without our permission.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that do these things, with or without notice depending on severity.

3. Your content

You own everything you put into Locus. We never claim ownership over your data. We hold a narrow license to store and display it back to you (otherwise the app couldn't work) — that license ends the moment you delete the data or your account.

You're responsible for what you put in. If you upload something you don't have the rights to, we may have to remove it on request from the rights-holder.

4. Service availability

We try to keep Locus running, but we don't guarantee uptime. Things break. Backends go down. We'll do our best to fix them quickly.

If we ever shut Locus down for good, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your data.

5. Pricing & payment

Locus is currently free. If we introduce paid features in the future, we'll tell you in advance, and your existing data will continue to be accessible whether or not you choose to pay.

6. Intellectual property

The Locus name, brand mark, and the source code that runs the service are ours. You don't need to credit us when you use the app, but you can't pass off our brand as your own.

7. Termination

You can delete your account anytime from Account Settings, or request deletion from the public account deletion page. We may terminate your account if you materially violate these terms; in that case we'll tell you why and give you a chance to export your data, except in cases of clear abuse.

8. Disclaimers & liability

Locus is provided "as is." We don't warrant that it will be free of bugs, that any specific feature will work forever, or that it's fit for any specific purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for anything that goes wrong is limited to whatever you have paid us in the previous 12 months (which, for the free tier, is zero). We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

These limits don't apply where they conflict with consumer-protection laws that you can't waive — your statutory rights stay intact regardless of what this page says.

9. Changes to these terms

We'll update these terms when something material changes. If a change affects you negatively, we'll email you before it takes effect, and you'll have the option to delete your account before agreeing.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law, subject to any consumer-protection rights that cannot be waived. If a dispute comes up, contact us first so we can try to resolve it directly.
